"I did not expect this to be so much fun! We went as a team outing for work, so we picked the 4-6pm version. We thought we'd have more traffic, but it wasn't too bad. Also, we expected that the electric assist option would be easier, but we found out that because it's so much heavier, it isn't that much smoother.
To be honest, peddling w/ 9 people really wasn't a big deal. Occasionally, we had to pour the juice on - like when we ran a yellow(ish) light in front of a cop, but overall the peddling mechanisms make it pretty easy. It was HOT, but our boss brought Wilson headbands for all of us, so THAT was fun :) Add in several cans of Hell or High Watermelon Wheat beer and you have a parttty.
We ended up peddling UP to Raleigh Times, stopped for a brew, then up and around the Capital, raced the other trolley pub (smoked em), and then ended up by Flying Saucer. We didn't go in there and decided to haul a** down to Brewmasters instead since that allowed us to go down nice hill on Dawson. Then, a quick hop/skip/jump back to the 'barn'.
Tips: bring only beverages in plastic or cans, bring music (iphone/pod), and wear headbands!"
"Great Team Building Experience! We recently took the trolley pub as a team building activity and had a fantastic time! We choose the tour during mid-day and it was perfect as we were able to hop off and not wait in line at at the restaurants. Our driver was phenomenal! I highly recommend it as team builder. Fantastic time!"
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the Trolley Pub?
It’s a 14-person pedal powered trolley on wheels, with a certified Trolley Pub conductor in the captain’s seat. Perfect for pub crawls, birthday celebrations, bachelor/bachelorette parties, company outings, brewery tours, sightseeing, themed nights out- the possibilities are endless! A minimum of 6 peddlers is necessary to power the Trolley Pub.
What all is included in the price?
The price include the rental for the Trolley Pub for the two hours, a driver, a cooler for your beverages and an on board sound system.
Where does the Trolley Pub stop and for how long?
During a private tour, that is up to you, as long as its along your route. Visit the "destinations" page under "about" for details. Just let your driver know where you would like to stop at the start of the tour. Most groups stop at three spots for about 15-20 minutes at each stop. For mixer tours, we will stop at three popular bar/restaurants for 15 minutes at each stop. These stops will vary based on the group on board, rider requests, and the driver's discretion. Some people prefer to stay on board the whole tour, even during the stops, and that is just fine!
How much does it cost?
A private tour has a flat rate of $400 for 7-14 people. Mixer tickets, where you can buy individual seats, are $30 each ($35 on Fridays and Saturdays). Special events are charged by the hour- plus a drop-off fee if you need to have it transported to your event. Make sure you book your tour well in advance, as we are often sold out on popular time-slots up to a month in advance!
Where do we board the Trolley Pub?
All tours begin and end next to our storage location at 121 S Front St, Wilmington, NC 28401. You should see the trolley parked at the curb across from Little Dipper restaurant (near the intersection of S Front and Orange). Guests should arrive 15 minutes early with valid I.D and a confirmation email received by completing your safety waiver. (you can find a link to complete this @ http://wilmington.trolleypub.com/book-now.html )
Can we drink on board?
Yep! Bring up to 3 alcoholic beverages (beer or wine) per "of age" customer on board. NO GLASS OR LIQUOR WILL BE PERMITTED. NO EXCEPTIONS. (this goes for wine bottles, beer bottles, dishes etc.)
Isn’t it hard to pedal?
It's not too bad!. Plus, we have an auxiliary motor to help along the difficult spots. We have had groups of all 70+ seniors pedal just fine. If they can do it, you can do it!!!
What if it rains?
Trolley Pub operates rain or shine! If its going to rain, we recommend bringing rain jackets and/or ponchos. It’s still a lot of fun- think of it as an adventure. We only cancel tours if there are unsafe conditions.
How many coolers fit on board?
We can fit approximately 3 full-sized coolers on board. If you would like to use our cooler, we have room for approximately 48 cans of beer in ours (but we recommend you pack your own ahead of time). Remember to bring ice!!
Can more than 14 people fit on the Trolley Pub?
No. The fourteen seats include the non-pedaling seat in the back bench.
Are people under the age of 21 allowed on board?
Yes, but they will not receive a wrist band and cannot drink while on board. Riders must be 18 or older for mixer tours. The minimum age to ride on a private tour is 16 with valid identification and a parent or guardian.
Is there a weight limit for riders?
Yes. Unfortunately due to the nature of the vehicles, customers over 275 pounds will not be able to comfortably ride the Trolley Pub. This rule is for the bike seats only. People over this weight will need to sit on the bench seat in the rear of the vehicle.
How do I reschedule/cancel my tour?
It's easy! Simply respond to your confirmation email with the date change request. Please ensure that you are within the reschedule/cancellation time frame outlined in your confirmation email.
